Calculators for Ontario Heat Pump Buyers
Last updated: By HeatPumpIndex Evidence Desk
11 tools, all of them free and none of them asking for an email address first. Each one runs on figures published by a named Canadian company, utility or regulator, researched August 2026 and listed in full at the bottom of the tool that uses them. Where two sources disagree the range is widened rather than averaged, and where nobody publishes a number the tool says so instead of estimating one.

- Ductless cost by zoneBuild the system head by head and see which zone counts are a published price and which are two rows added together.Open it
What it costs to run
- Heat pump vs furnace running costPrice one winter of heat twice, at Enbridge's published gas rate against the OEB electricity price you are actually on.Open it
- Savings and payback calculatorDivides the annual running cost difference into the installed price, and says plainly when there is no payback at all.Open it
- SEER and HSPF comparerTurns a step up in the rating on the label into dollars a year of heating and an exact percentage of the cooling bill.Open it
What size you need
- Cold climate suitability checkerPut the rating on the box beside your region's design temperature and see whether the machine is still running when it matters.Open it
- BTU calculator by room sizeEvery published Canadian rule of thumb applied to one room at once, so you can see how far apart they land.Open it

What you can claim
Why these give a range and not a price
Nobody can quote your house from a web page, and a calculator that returns one confident number is telling you something it does not know. What these tools do instead is take the ranges that GTA installers, Ontario’s energy regulator and Enbridge Gas actually publish, apply them to what you told the tool, and print every line of the arithmetic beside the answer.
That makes the output checkable, which is the point. If a row looks wrong you can open the source it came from and see the sentence it was read out of. HeatPumpIndex holds no figure that does not have one.
